Joylan Ware SDP 19 (Paper candidate)

While we did not fair as well as we had liked in Birmingham, the idea is to establish the SDP are still here and to slowly build up areas of support. Joyce & Joylan Ware both stood as paper candidates with no leaflet or poster campaign but still received votes of people supporting the SDP on name alone.

In Hodge Hill Peter Johnson, the Party Leader stood, but sadly the lack of acive members hindered leaflet distribution and this resulted in just half the ward being leaflet, approximately 5300, not the 10500 we needed. However as a result of this work, the SDP received 2% of the vote.

We have large areas to cover in Birmingham, but we are now slowly starting to develop, as more and more people seek a rael peoples alternative & only the SDP can do this.

SWINDON PARKS WARD
Labour 1115 (HELD)
Conservative 383
UKIP 193
Independent 179 ( Former Conservative Councillor )
Lib Dem 100
Stephen Halden SDP 33

Stephen our man in Swindon fought a one man campaign, securing 1.5% of the vote, which was a creditable showing.

Members and supporters should note, whilst numbers do impress, the % of the votes cast is what is important and the SDP’s is growing once more.

SUMMARY
The SDP is alive and kicking, we have councillors in Yorkshire and South Wales, so our message and service in areas we have councillors is working and being well received. What we must do now, is reach others and offer the people a chance for change.

Our message is right and policies correct, but we need to grow. Now in 2012, the SDP is once more rising, offering the people a real alternative. Let us spread the word far and wide, the SDP are here and waiting, if people support our ideas, then they should join us and work with us to achieve a better Britain
for all.
